A variety of research was presented with representation from the OHRI, Carleton University and the University of Ottawa.
The invited guest speaker was Dr. Walter Herzog, who gave a talk titled: “Animal Models of Knee Joint Osteoarthritis”. Dr. Herzog is a Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, and director of the Human Performance Laboratory. 23 scientific papers were presented throughout the day and prizes were given for the top abstracts.
The meeting also included talks from Dr. Bogdan Matache, The Ottawa Hospital/University of Ottawa “Patellofemoral Instability: What’s New in 2024?”, Dr. Adrian Chan, Carleton University “The Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Future of Healthcare”, and Dr. Mario Lamontagne, University of Ottawa “Reflecting on My Academic Journey: What I Would Do Differently.”

Third prize: Nasteho Abdoulkader (Supervisor: Dr. Isabelle Catelas, University of Ottawa, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering) “The Potential Role of Tricarboxylic Acid Cycle Metabolites in the Release of Interleukin-1β by Macrophages Exposed to Co2+”
