Biography

Mariam is the Scientific Manager in Dr. Abdelbary’s laboratory at OHRI and a member of the IMPACT program, which focuses on advancing research related to implant‑associated infections. In her role, she oversees the planning, optimization, and implementation of experimental studies across the lab’s research portfolio.

She brings specialized expertise in bacteriology, bacteriophage biology, and biofilm research, and has been a member of the Ortho team since 2017. Her work includes active involvement in both in‑vitro and in‑vivo bacteriophage studies, clinical trial development, and translational research aimed at improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of implant‑associated infections.

Mariam holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Ottawa.
