Daniel Coutu, PhD

Research Chair, Regenerative Orthopaedic Surgery, The Ottawa Hospital, Assistant Professor/Scientist Regenerative Medicine Program, OHRI

University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital Research Associates

Dr. Coutu received his PhD in Experimental Medicine from McGill University. Dr. Coutu’s research focus at OHRI and the University of Ottawa is to study the biology of skeletal stem cells in an attempt to bring novel therapies to patients suffering from debilitating conditions with unmet clinical needs. The research in Dr. Coutu’s lab explores four mains axes: 1) Study the fundamental biology of skeletal stem cells, 2) Improve tissue regeneration and repair skeletal stem cells, 3) Technology development – quantitative imaging techniques, and 4) Study the interactions between skeletal cells and blood/immune cells in the bone marrow.
